Changes

Big changes are happening in the Edwards' house.

A few weeks ago, on my sister's suggestion, Jon applied for a job. It's no secret that Jon has been very unhappy with his current employment situation. While at one time that job created such a drive in him, over recent years, with lack of upper management support, Jon got burned out. He worked so hard for no appreciation. It never seemed that he was enough.

Well, Jon was called for a phone interview, and then asked to return for an on-site interview last week. The next morning, Thursday, Jon was offered the job. It's in a completely different field, however, using the same basic skills (customer service and problem solving). And, after a night of serious discussions, he accepted the new job!

Jon is excited about the opportunities. He will once again be in a position where growth is possible, and he'll be challenged to learn new information. This is not a management position, but the potential to lead in that compacity is definately a future possibility (and dare I say, probability). It's also a Monday-Friday job. The only downside is that the job is provides the same fiscally as McD's, so Jon will continue to work a few nights at BB. But, having the same days off with the family is a huge deal (even if he works one weekend shift - its way bettter than the current double shifts he works both Fridays and Saturdays).

This will be such a blessing to our family!

I know that Jon has a heavy heart about turning in his resignation. Eventhough he has been so hurt by the lack of respect from his supervisors, Jon still appreciates what that company has done for him (and our family) during the past 10 years. He thinks fondly about many of his crew, and leaving them is going to be hard.

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another. ~Anatole France

And, there is even more change coming...but you have to wait until Thursday to hear about that!
