We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We enjoyed dinner at my parents with a few members of our family (but not everyone - and sometimes a bit smaller, more intimate, is nice).
Friday Jon worked and returned to my mom's to bake cookies with the kids, my grandma, and my mom. It was a fun day and we cranked out many goodies - nut clusters, thin mints, chocolate dipped pretzels, sugar cookies, peanut butter blossoms, puppy chow, and homemade chex mix.
On Saturday I experienced my first trip to Trader Joe's. I am in love! We bought some wine, fruit, and various meats and I am excited to have some variety in our meals this week. Since there isn't a TJ's closer, we won't be going weekly, but I am aiming for monthly. Oh, I also got a ton of my Christmas shopping done online courtesy of Shutterfly.
Today we cleaned, did laundry, organized the bedroom closet, and had my parents over for dinner. It was a nice wrap-up for the weekend and all the cleaning makes me feel a bit more at ease for the upcoming week.
As I filled out the calendar today (the one that hangs on the fridge), I realized that there are only 4 weeks until Christmas. I am excited for the holiday, but from a teacher stand point, I am feeling overwhelmed. Our quarter ends Dec. 23 (our holiday break starts the 24th) so report cards are due, we have an awards ceremony that day, and my classroom needs to be packed because it gets cleaned before we return in January.
I just need to remember to breathe. One step at a time....
What is your best way of dealing with holiday stress? Please share, as mine is chocolate, and that's just not happening this year! :-)
