This photo was taken at the Ronald McDonald House Charity Gala - Fam Glam 2009. RMHC is an organization that is near and dear to our hearts. Thanks to Choate and Co. (Jon's work) we have both been able to be involved with some volunteer opportunies with RMHC. I was priviledged to cook a meal for about 100 of the residents and Jon and his co-workers have served meals on occasion. Attending the gala and hearing first hand from some families who have been impacted by major medical crisis is heart wrenching, but it is wonderful that there are places like RMHC that can help ease other burdens so that the families can focus on each other and their ill child.
If you have a chance to chance to donate spare change while at McDonalds, or purchase a hand during your visit, or even save pop-tops, I encourage you to do so. These small acts of kindness, when pooled, together have a huge impact on so many children and their families.
"Since 1979 Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest, and our cornerstone program, Ronald McDonald House of the Twin Cities, have provided a home-away-from-home for families whose children are receiving medical treatment in the Twin Cities for cancer or other life-threatening illnesses. In addition to providing lodging for 48 families on any given night, innovative programs create a sense of community and encouragement for these families facing critical pediatric illness. Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest also extends support to children and families who do not live at the Ronald McDonald House though various outreach programs." -RMHC-UM website.

Madison and I donate and extra $1 every Wednesday when she gets her happy meal. Although I will say, we went to another Mcdonalds tonight, and they didnt ask. And last week when we went to the one up the road, they asked, I said yes, and they didnt charge me for it. So I had to remind them. I think its a great cause, and it shows M that its ok to give to others.
