Church Home

I have been a member of our current church, Gloria Dei, since I was little (3 or 4). I have to admit that I am emotionally attached to this church. That is not to say that I am always pleased with everything that has happened, but that is my church home.

I spent many Wednesday nights singing there in a group called SonShine singers.

I enjoyed many Sunday morning worship services there, and even more Sunday School classes.

I was confirmed at that church.

We were married at that church.

Both our children were baptized there.

My Grandpa and my Aunt Bertha (two important people in my life) had their lives celebrated there before they were laid to rest.

Needless to say, finding a different church home is hard for me. I am emotionally attached.

However, I think it's necessary. I have so many fond memories of church, and most are about the friendships and relationships that were fostered during those activities and classes.

Sadly, Gloria Dei is undergoing changes. People are moving away (to the suburbs, and our church is in the city). People are growing older. When Sunday School started yesterday, it was for 5 students (six if Tyler would have attended).

But, I want my children to be able to grow in their faith, AND make friends at church, so we are looking for a new church home...

And, we may have found one! We tried it yesterday for the first time, and I was pleasantly surprised. We'll be going a few more times before we make any decisions, but so far, so good (and there are tons of young families...yea!).
