Head Over Heals

Today, we had a few scary hours in the Edwards' family.

While shopping this morning, Sophie fell over the side of the stroller cart. While I was stopped looking at items; she had been turned around, sitting on her knees, talking to Tyler. She was in the process of sitting back down when she went over the side (yes, I know she should have been properly belted in, but it didn't work right and I thought it would be okay - so please, no seat belt lectures). She literally went head over heals and smacked the back of her head on the hard department store floor.

Instantly she started screaming and she lost the color in her face. I held her and after a few minutes the crying stopped and her color partially came back. We left the store and headed to a birthday party for a friend of Tyler.

Well, we weren't at the party for more than five minutes when Soph got really pale again and started to vomit. So, we left the party and went to Unity Hospital Emergency Room.
Words can't even begin to describe how my heart felt - I was so scared for my little girl!

We registered at the hospital and because of the near constant vomiting she was put in an ER room rather quickly. The doctors and nurses checked her over, gave her a pill for the vomiting (which she threw back up), took her for a CT scan, and then gave her a shot for the vomiting (which worked). Then we waited - I prayed and Sophers napped.
And, thank God, the CT Scan came back completely normal! No swelling, bleeding, or fractures. Sophie was released from the hospital after about 2.5 hours with restrictions to light/quiet activities for a week. We will have to follow up with our doctor this week, but that is routine.

Thank God she's okay - I know it must have been terrifying for you waiting to hear at the hospital. Give her a big hug and kiss from Aunt Kristen!
