Sunday: Our flight left MSP around 1:30 and we were in Chicago within an hour. We picked up our luggage (which I must say was at the carousel in record time - kudos United Airlines) and were greeted by some people who directed us to our transportation to the hotel. We arrived at the Sheraton, where there was a big welcome sign, a registration committee, and a whole cavalcade of people to welcome us. We received all of our information, and then had a short time to rest before heading to the first event - a casino night. The casino night was enjoyable and we even met a couple from Minnesota.
We're leaving on a jet plane...

Monday: Jon and I had separate itineraries for a majority of the day. Jon, and all the other winners, had to leave bright and early for HU. While there, they had some meetings with their division president's, and were able to see the "Ray Kroc Hall of Fame" and their names on the 2008 plaque. While Jon was admiring his name, I, along with the other guests, were on a tour of Chicago - very informative. Jon and I met up at 4:00 and walked down to Navy Pier. It was so nice to just meander around and enjoy some time together. Our evening ended with another whole group event - an evening of food and music at House of Blues.

Doesn't Jon look thrilled? Atleast he humors me!
Aren't my "press credentials" wonderfully stylish?
Tuesday: Free day! Jon and I were free to explore Chicago until 5:00pm. We chose to visit the Field Museum where there were exhibits on the Aztecs, Real Pirates, and Ancient Egypt, just to name a few. We also enjoyed lunch at a cute little cafe, Yolk, strolled part of Grant Park, and took a bus up Michigan Ave.
Tuesday evening was the big event, the awards ceremony! David and Mary, the owners of Jon's company, flew in, and it was so lovely to see them. Some highlights of the night included Jon meeting Fred Turner (Ray Kroc's partner), getting his award and meeting Don Thompson (president of McD's USA), and an especially tasty dessert (okay, this was a highlight for me...not so much, Jon).
