The First Week Down (only 35 to go...)

Wow! The first week of the 2008-09 school year is already over. I can hardly believe it. It was a busy week, but it went very well. I have 23 students for math and 22 for reading. That doesn't seem too terrible (compared to teachers with nearly 30 per class) but it is a combined third and fourth grade class, so that means that I have to teach two different sets of cirriculum - I can definately feel the difference of adding 4 more students in the room.

I am excited to be back at School For All Seasons. It was a relief to decide that I would stay and my co-workers have been extremely supportive.

Speaking of supportive people, I have to mention my family. This year will mean many sacrifices, but we are in this together (Thank you, Jonathan, for all of your advice, support, and dedication). Also, both sets of parents and a good friend, have made huge contributions to my classroom in the way of more supplies. THANK YOU! Because of your support, I can maintain a welcoming and effective classroom, where it is a pleasure to spend my day.

The door and it's friendly message.

The view from right inside the door. Ahead is our guided reading group table and our classroom library.

The view from behind my desk, looking towards the students tables.

The view from just inside the door, looking to the right. It's our workspace.

Good luck with your new school year! Mom told me about Tiny Man's fall when I called to tell her I had returned to the States; give him a big hug and kiss from Auntie Kristen!
